3.4.3.4. Major maintenance of the engine – alternatives

GENERAL INFORMATION

At independent performance of major maintenance various options are possible. The decision on replacement of the block of cylinders, shatunno-piston group and a cranked shaft depends on a number of factors from which the most important is the condition of the block of cylinders. Other reasons are repair cost, possibility of access to the equipment of workshops of car-care center, existence of spare parts, time planned for work, and also personal experience.

Here some of options of performance of major maintenance:

 – acquisition of separate spare parts (see subsection 3.4.3.5);
 – the block of cylinders of an incomplete complete set (see subsection 3.4.3.6);
 – the repair engine (the block of cylinders of a full complete set) (see subsection 3.4.3.7).

Carefully think over, what of alternatives to you best of all approaches. Before purchase or before registration of the order for spare parts consult in a local workshop of car-care center, with suppliers of spare parts, and also with experts in restoration of engines.
