GENERAL INFORMATION

Methods and safety measures

If the decision on engine dismantle for carrying out major maintenance or repair of the main knots was made, it is necessary to hold certain preparatory events.

It is extremely important to plan a place in which works will be performed. Undoubtedly, the best place is the workshop. It is very important to have the equipped working platform, and also a place for car storage. If neither a workshop, nor the garage is not present, the equal and pure concrete or asphalted platform is required at least.

Washing of a motor compartment and the power unit before the beginning of dismantle will allow to keep the tool clean and a constant working condition.

Also the floor lift or a telfer will be necessary. Be convinced that these devices have a stock on loading capacity and are capable to lift the engine with transmission. Observance of security measures here plays a paramount role, as engine lifting from the car – operation potentially dangerous.

If works on dismantle of the engine are carried out by the inexperienced person, the assistant is necessary. Consult and ask to help the persons having experience in such works. There is a set of examples of that as attempts alone to execute engine dismantle with lifting of last of a motor compartment came to an end unsuccessfully.

In advance plan the actions. Before beginning works, hire or get all necessary tools and the equipment. To some adaptations providing safety at dismantle and installation of the engine, and also decrease in labor costs, belong (besides the lift) a jack cart of the sufficient loading capacity, a full set of keys and opravka, wooden blocks, rags and solvent for cleaning of inevitable pools from the spilled working liquids of the engine. If the lift is hired, agree about it in advance, having performed all works in which this mechanism is not required. It will allow to save money and time.

Keep in mind that considerable time you cannot use the car. For performance of some works inaccessible in house conditions in the absence of the special equipment, it is necessary to address in a car-care center workshop. These enterprises work according to the schedule, therefore the expedient will consult there before engine dismantle precisely to estimate costs of time of repair and restoration of details.

Always at dismantle and installation of the power unit be very attentive. Rash actions can cause serious traumas. In advance consider the actions. Do not feel sorry on it for time, for the main thing – work without traumas.
